I've heard Matt sing before, and if his entry is anything like what I remember, I do think he stands a fair chance!

Hi guys, just wanted to give a big shout out to everyone involved with Zone Icon, to the organisers, the contestants, and most importantly, the Zoners who's support and enthusiasm for this new and inovative idea, the first online competition of it's kind, have made it all worthwhile.

I hope you'll all be listening to the broadcasts as I know I will. I'ts all been a lot of fun, and I certainly hope we have another one next year. Maybe if this is as successful as I think it will be, the admins would consider a writer's competition, a commedien's competition etc. There are certainly some amazing writers out there in Zoneland, and some incredibly funny people as well! Wouldn't it be cool to have commedy nights on Ventrillo!

Anyway, stay safe everyone, and stay smiling.

Matt

Hello all,
Well I voted for you, and yes you can sing. I think you stand a chance in either winning or coming close to it. It's hard to choose when it comes down to it who you're gonna vote for, but who knows. I guess we'll just have to see what happens next week.

Post 16 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Friday, 03-Nov-2006 14:20:17

Good job, Matty boy! *GRIN* It's going to be so hard to start voting for real next week. Hehehe.

Let me make a proclamation. You're looking at one of the two finalests. He, and the other finalist in question, did one hell of a job with their respective tracks.

Post 26 by Jasmin (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 13:14:36

Hey Matt,
I hope you don't get voted off, you did a very good job for a British guy who doesn't know country all that well. You are a very talented singer I must say also. So best of luck to you with the voting and I guess we'll see what happens.

Post 27 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 16:25:11

I usually vote for matt too. I almost cried last night at his song. I personally don't think matt should be the one to get kicked off, but, what the crowd says goes so...

Post 28 by Damia (I'm oppinionated deal with it.) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 17:13:18

I agree with jazmine and Cala. You have my vote Matt. squish hugs and good luck

Post 29 by The Luggage (Zone BBS Addict) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 17:46:08

Hi all! Noticed that my Fan board had been posted to, so thought I'd come and see what you've all been saying! Smiles!

I must say, these words of encouragement really make me feel good about myself, and I need that today I can tell you! I couldn't have gotten this far without all your support folks, so thanks so much for voting for me and helping me to get this far into the competition.

That said however, I really think I will be going out this week to be honest, although, now that I've had a chance to actually listen to my recording, I totally have to disagree with the judges about that song being too high for me! At the time, I didn't argue, because it's very difficult to judge one's own performance without hearing it played back to you first, and so I guess I didn't really think about it when I simply agreed with what the judges had been saying, but now I have listened to it, I totally disagree with them saying the song was beyond my range! Almost everything else I've performed in this competition has been higher than Oklahoma! In fact, I'd go so far as to sayy, that every other song I've performed goes higher in places than this one did!

I sang this an octave lower than Billy Gillman does, and at no time did I strain to reach any of the notes.

I did however, agree that Country in a British accent doesn't really work very well, and that maybe I should have chosen Folk instead.

Anyway, as I said, I'm sure I'll be dropping out this week, but folks, thanks again for getting me to number 4 at least, and I hope you will all enjoy the rest of the contest.

Who knows! Maybe I will go on a little further, but I do doubt it to be honest.

Anyway, hugs to all, and take care.

Love Matt

Post 30 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 17:51:31

Matt,

I didn't think it was too high for you either and also disagreed with the judges on that point. And regarding your accent, I don't think it is all that noticeable when you sing.

But whether you will still be in the competition next week or not, congratulations on making it this far, and I have truly enjoyed hearing you sing each week.

Post 31 by The Luggage (Zone BBS Addict) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 17:59:02

And now, I've been looking at some of the other boards, and realise that I've been neglecting my fans! You guys! The people who've helped me get this far!

So, in order to rectify this somewhat, I've decided to jump on the band-wagon and do what Jes and Danielle have done! However, because I'm a guy, I probably won't put a restriction on what you can ask me! However, if it's very vulgar, I might have to answer you in a PM! LOL!

Fire away!

Love Matt

Hey Matt,
No i disagreed on the range to from what that new judge said. Personally, I think she's a little too serious for the show. I mean it's not like we're all taking singing lessons, so she doesn't have to be all professional and stuff, but oh well. Anyway, yeah I tried to help you find a folk song, and my boyfriend just voted for you, so I"m excited to see what happens with the voting. that song was truly beautiful. I don't know it, but I'm glad I heard it from you to teach it to me. lol. Anyway, I don't know what else to say except that I hope you get in the next round. It'll be hard not to vote for you. Anyway, take care to all.
Jasmin

Post 33 by Damia (I'm oppinionated deal with it.) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 18:14:35

actually i know someone else who voted for you too matt. We love your voice. I disagreed with the judges as well. Folk might have been better but that song almost made me cry, and i like you singing it more than Gillman. smiles and hugs.

Post 34 by fuzzy101 (The master of fuzz!!) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 19:46:55

Not only do I disagree with the judges on it being too high for you, but I also disagree that your accent effected your performance.
During your performance my fiance and I were commenting on how american you sounded.
There was a littlebit of accent perhaps but nothing like your speaking voice.
I also don't recall them being too nit picky abou the song you did the week before and that song could be considered country.

Post 35 by jessmonsilva (Taking over the boards, one topic at a time.) on Wednesday, 29-Nov-2006 19:55:48

good luck matt and congrats to you.

Post 36 by Perestroika (Her Swissness) on Thursday, 30-Nov-2006 0:13:26

matt, i loved that song, and i loved the way you sang it.
it was really nice, and a great story behind it.
You also made it your own song, and you didn't sound like you were singing notes on a page.
loved it.
good luck.

Post 37 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 30-Nov-2006 1:15:22

Matt, I loooooooove you! And I'm from Oklahoma, so yay. Lol. I do disagree with the judges on the song being too high for you, although there were times when it sounded a bit flat, but I also disagree with the comment that your accent didn't make a difference. It wasn't negative in my humble opinion, but it was definitely noticeable, and it did give the song a strange touch. Still, I most definitely prefer your voice to Billy Gilman's.

As for whether or not you'll be the one who's out this round, I guess we'll find out soon enough. Best of luck, and even if you don't go on to the next round, I still loooooooove you.

Oh yeah, and I will ask a question as soon as I've thought of one worthy of being asked.

Post 38 by Jasmin (Account disabled) on Thursday, 30-Nov-2006 12:30:23

Hey matt,
I actually forgot to say this before, but you did a really good job of sounding American. Lol. You had a bit of a southern accent in there. I dunno how you did it, but good job! It made you sound totally different, but if you go onto the next round, what broadway song would you do? I'm not trying to get you all excited, but I just wondered.
Best of luck,
Jasmin

Post 39 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Thursday, 30-Nov-2006 12:37:19

heya mat. I voted for you :)

hmmm if in the next round ... broadway ... not that it's any of my business you understand, but I would say do something like... who needs to dream from copa cabana, or close every door from joseph.

Post 40 by OrangeDolphinSpirit (Despite the cost of living, have you noticed how popular it remains?) on Thursday, 30-Nov-2006 12:51:42

Hey Matt, I do have to agree and say that the song was not in your range. And though I think you sound better when you sing the lower stuff, you didn't sound half as bad as I thought you would singing a Billy Gilman song. All I could think was, "Oh, no, he's singing a song that a little boy did, it's going to be too high ..." OK, so it wasn't as high as I thought, and that's a good thing. You did a good job for the most part, even if you should have stuck to something lower. And yes, country isn't all that popular in England, but wasn't the theme country and folk? You could have done afolk song. *GRIN*

Anyway, there's my two cents for what it's worth.
